World Wetlands Day 2025

World Wetlands Day is celebrated on February 2 every year to raise awareness about the importance of wetlands. The day was established to help people appreciate the significance of wetlands for human wellbeing and the planet.

To contribute to the celebration at all levels, the Wetlands Management Department encouraged citizens to host or organize local activities in own cities, districts, institutions or at community in commemoration of the day. The chief guest was the Vice President for Uganda H.E Hon Jessica Alupo who presided over the celebrations during the National Celebrations of wetlands day in Rubirizi District.

Also recognized was the Head of delegation of the UNDP (Uganda), among other development partners, local governments, politicians and practicing conservationists and environmentalists.

TEENS being part of the National Organizing committee (NOC) for the last eight 8 years, we are happy to have contributed and participated in this year’s national event too by organizing the Wetlands Awards for the 7th Year in 2025.
