Annual Youth Cultural Heritage Competitions 2021

Hosted by our partners – Cross-Cultural Foundation of Uganda (CCFU), with the aim of to promote the recognition of culture as vital for human development, implements a Heritage Education Programme (HEP) to engage young people in the preservation and promotion of Uganda’s diverse cultures.

One of the activities under HEP is an Annual Youth Cultural Heritage Competition in which young people express their understanding of aspects of culture in their local contexts. This year’s theme required young people to artistically and/or audio-visually illustrate and explain the aspect of beauty in relation to their ethnic communities, and CCFU received 251 entries.

A jury of heritage experts on culture, art and language selected the best 13 entries which have been used to design a national heritage calendar for 2019.
